Mr. Spencer brings substantial experience in the transition of mines from construction phase to production and, in particular, optimizing production ramp-up and operating costs. He has held senior roles with Western Mining Corporation, Placerdome, Barrick Gold, Kagara, Goldfields of South Africa and Aditya Birla Minerals, and also oversaw the ramp-up and production of the Ban Phuc nickel mine. Mr. Spencer is also Chairman at Kasbah Resources.
Andre Van Niekirk
Chief Financial Officer
Mr. Van Niekerk was previously the CFO of Golden Star Resources where he oversaw the commissioning and ramp-up of multiple new mining operations, in addition to the upgrade of company-wide ERP and management reporting and control systems during his 14-year tenure. Mr. van Niekerk has extensive capital market experience and was responsible for financing the development of the two underground mines and the continuous optimization of the company’s balance sheet. Previously he held senior positions with KPMG.
Chief Operating Officer
Mr. Ekmark brings over 26 years of domestic and international experience to Nevada Copper. A common theme throughout his career has been the strong and lasting culture and business systems transition resulting in top-tier safety and operational results. Dale served as CEO and Chairman of OKD in the Czech Republic where he oversaw the operation of four ultra-deep underground coal mines with over 12,000 employees. He also served as COO and CEO of Sydvaranger Gruve in Kirkenes, Norway; COO of AMG Mining of the Advanced Metallurgical Group and VP/GM of Detour Gold. Additionally, Dale has held numerous senior management roles with Kazakhmys Copper, NORAMCO Engineering Corp., Placer Dome Inc., Cleveland-Cliffs Inc., and The De Beers Group of Companies. He holds a Bachelor’s in Mechanical and Industrial Engineering from University of Minnesota, a Master’s in Engineering Management from the University of Alaska, and completed post-graduate studies in Systems Science/Business Administration from Portland State University.
Cassandra Joseph, J.D., B.A.
Senior VP & General Counsel
Ms. Joseph has more than 20 years of legal experience with a focus on mining and metals, environmental and corporate law. Prior to joining the Nevada Copper Team, she served as VP Associate General Counsel, Corporate Secretary and Chief Compliance Officer for Tahoe Resources Inc. She previously served as a Senior Deputy Attorney General for the Nevada Attorney General’s Office, representing the Nevada Division of Environmental Protection, Division of Water Resources and other agencies within the Department of Natural Resources. She was also previously a partner at Watson Rounds LLP, where she litigated intellectual property cases. She holds a J.D. from Santa Clara University School of law and a B.A. from U.C. Berkeley.
Greg French, P. Geol.
VP Head of Exploration
Mr. French is a geologist with over 35 years of exploration experience in the western US and Canada . He has worked in various capacities for Homestake Mining Co., Atlas Precious Metals, and Cornerstone Industrial Minerals as well as consulting for numerous junior mining companies. Mr. French has a Nevada gold discovery to his credit and extensive project development experience including two projects taken through feasibility and production.
Timothy M. Dyhr
VP External & Government Relations
Mr. Dyhr has 35 years of experience in mining. He has led multidisciplinary teams to successfully permit copper and gold mines in Nevada since 1983, and worked on projects in Arizona, California, Washington, Montana, Wyoming, Peru, Chile, Argentina, Australia, Africa, Turkey, China and Papua New Guinea. His experience includes environmental, regulatory, land and legal affairs; and government, media, NGO and public relations. He has worked as a mine site environmental manager, environmental consultant, natural resources manager, and group environmental manager for BHP Copper.
Aubree Barnum, PHR, SHRM-CP
Director, Human Resources
Ms. Barnum is a certified professional in Human Resources with over 10 years of human resource experience in both private and public sectors of employment including mining and government administration industries. She is also a member of Society for Human Resource Management with leadership experience in talent acquisition, talent management, labor relations, and organizational development. Prior to joining the Nevada Copper Team, Ms. Barnum held the role of Human Resource Manager for the City of Elko, Nevada, where she was served as the Chief Negotiator in labor relations. She previously served as a Senior Human Resource Professional for Barrick Gold Corporation. Ms. Barnum holds a Bachelor’s degree in Human Physiology with a minor in Business Administration from the University of Oregon. She is currently pursuing her M.B.A. with an emphasis in Human Resource Management.
Audrey Whitman, GSP, SSH
Health and Safety Manager
Ms. Whitman graduated from Oklahoma State University with a degree in Fire Protection and Safety Engineering Technology. She worked as a Safety and Health Specialist for several years in Oil and Gas, Construction, and Manufacturing. She started a safety consulting and training company in 2018. She consults for various industries including Mining. Audrey is an MSHA Approved Instructor for Surface and Underground and an OSHA Outreach Instructor. She is also an EMT and volunteers with Colorado River Fire Rescue.
Nick Atiemo, MBA, CEM
Mr. Atiemo has over 14 years experience in the mining industry as an Environmental Professional. He has spent most of his mining career with Placer Dome, Barrick Gold, and Nevada Gold Mines. His most recent assignment before joining Nevada Copper was Environmental Process Manager with Nevada Gold Mines, where he was part of a team responsible for assessing and evaluating the potential to permit a roasting facility at Cortez Mine in Nevada. Mr. Atiemo has significant experience in Environmental Management Systems, including Environmental Permitting and ISO-14001 implementation. During his time with Barrick Gold, he served in various roles including Senior Environmental Engineer, Environmental Superintendent, and Environmental Manager for Cortez Mine. Mr. Atiemo holds a variety of degrees and qualifications including a Bachelor’s Degree in Geological Engineering, a Master’s Degree in Water Supply and Environmental Sanitation, a Master’s Degree in Environmental Engineering, and a Master of Business Administration. He is also a Certified Environmental Manager for the State of Nevada.
